About this course
This course is a biographical analysis of the Last Prophet (saw) based on authentic sources, allowing students to develop love and appreciation for the Prophet (saw), understand why particular Qur’anic passages were revealed, develop the ability to compare his times with ours in various respects, and fortify one’s knowledge on the compelling reasons to believe in his prophethood. (3 credits)
About the Instructor
Jaan Islam
Ustadh Jaan Islam is a graduate of Mishkah University and is currently completing his PhD in Islamic Studies at the University of Edinburgh. He also holds an MA in Political Science at the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Religious Studies at Dalhousie University.
Ustadh Jaan has published several books and articles in the field of Islamic political thought, including a book on Ibn Taymiyyah titled Islam and the State in Ibn Taymiyya: Translation and Analysis (Routledge 2022). He is interested in many Islamic sciences, including history, comparative jurisprudence, and political thought.
